Player of the year 2006: Natasha King
Natasha King, or Tash as she is known to her team mates and friends, plays Goal Shooter for Salisbury club Rangers. Her team compete in the league organised by the SDNA committee and one that has been running since 1973.
Rangers have also been playing on a Thursday evening in the Ringwood Netball League and have successfully won this for the last couple of years. A number of the players also team up to play on a Saturday morning as Flemming Park in the Southampton League.
Tash tells us ‘Netball is a great team sport which comes with an excellent social life. As the Umpiring Secretary of the SDNA committee I hope I am giving something back to the sport I enjoy so much.’
SDNA Annual Summer Tournament
Twelve teams from Salisbury, Portsmouth and Peterborough competed in a fun day thoroughly enjoyed by all. Congratulations to Salisbury team "The DB's" for winning the final against Peterborough team VSL. Many thanks to all who competed, umpired and helped make the day a huge success.
The evening was preceded by a fun mixed netball tournament, which saw a total of 16 teams compete for the trophy on a blistering hot sunny day. The Salisbury teams competed against teams from London, Peterborough and Portsmouth.
A Versatility Tournament was held on Tuesday 8th June for all teams taking part in the Summer Mixed League. Each participating player drew a number, which gave him or her a team to play for during the evening. Six teams in all took part with each match consisting of 5 minutes each way with a straight turnaround and a 5 minute break in between matches. It was a very warm evening so players were glad of the break to take on water and compare notes with their other team-mates.
Everyone was in good spirits and seemed to enjoy the opportunity of playing with different players. We had a guest visiting from Germany who had never played netball before but volunteered to play as we were short of men and showed great promise as a shooter!
5 points were awarded for a win and 3 for a draw. The final top 3 positions were as follows:

Salisbury District Netball Association (SDNA) is thrilled to congratulate Natasha King for winning Netballer of the Year at the recent Salisbury Journal Annual Sports Award for the second year running.

The Weather just about held for the SDNA Annual Summer tournament.

Every year the Claudette trophy (donated in her memory) is awarded to someone who shows exceptional effort and dedication to the sport. This years very worthy winner was Clare Taylor, the former chairperson of the league who has given much of her time to progress netball in Salisbury. Awards were also presented to the best player from each team as voted by fellow players.

Celebrating sport in Salisbury is the Salisbury District Netball League with their annual presentation evening which was held on 31 July 2004 at the Afon bar and restaurant.
The standard was very high as teams included some of the members from the national men’s squad and Just Frendz eventually won the tournament in a fiercely competitive final. The evening saw the presentation of the trophies to the winners and runners up from the Winter 2003/2004 and Summer 2004 seasons.

Kelly Morgan presented the trophies, a player herself for the Division One Winners, Rangers who retained the Division one winner’s title for the 10th year. SDH showed real improvement to take the Division two title. In the summer Lakers were clear winners whilst CSSC (formely the DB’s) retained the mixed title.

The winning team 'Bravo'.
